Privacy & terms
Last updated September 24, 2026. The short version: we collect only what Rentr needs to split your house's bills, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
What we collect
- Pilot and ambassador forms. Your name, email, and the answers you type (house size, move-in timing, how you split bills now, university, class year, why you're interested).
- Your account. Your email, first name, and password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed) by our login provider. We can't see them.
- Messages you send us. Anything you email us, so we can reply.
Coming with house features. Once you can set up a house on Rentr, we'll also store your house's name, your roommates' first names, the bills you add (type, amount, due date, how it's split), who has tapped "I paid", and reminders you send a roommate through Rentr. We'll update this page when that launches.
We do not collect bank account, card, or payment details. Rentr doesn't move money today. "I paid" is something you tap yourself, and we don't check it against a bank.
Your roommates' information
When you add a roommate, you share their first name with Rentr and with everyone in your house. Only add people who know you're using Rentr for your house. A roommate who joins from your invite link only gives us their first name.
How we use it
- To run Rentr: show your house who owes what and who has paid.
- To contact you about the pilot or ambassador program if you filled in one of those forms.
- To reply when you email us or send feedback.
- To improve Rentr, using totals like "how many houses added a bill this week".
We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't share it with landlords unless you choose to show them your house's landlord-ready card.
Who else handles it
A few companies run parts of Rentr for us and handle data only to do that job:
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Supabase stores accounts and form answers, and runs log-in and password reset emails.
- jsDelivr delivers the code our log-in pages use. It sees that your browser asked for that file, not anything you type.
Cookies and browser storage
When you log in, we save a small login token in your browser so you stay logged in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account or house is active, or until the pilot ends if you only filled in a form. To see, fix, or delete anything we have about you, email popscoutmktg4250@gmail.com. We'll do it within 30 days. If you delete your account, your name comes off your house, but the other roommates keep their own record of the bills.
Who can use Rentr
Rentr is a pilot for college students and is meant for people 18 and older. Please don't sign up if you're younger.
Terms of use
- Rentr is a tool for splitting and tracking shared bills. It isn't a bank, a payment service, a lease guarantee, insurance, or a co-signer.
- Rentr doesn't send money to your landlord or utility companies. You're still responsible for paying your share and your house's bills on time.
- Split amounts are only as accurate as the bills you enter. Check them before you pay.
- This is an early pilot. Features may change, and there may be bugs. Please tell us when something looks wrong.
- Don't use Rentr to harass anyone or to enter information about people who haven't agreed to it. We may remove accounts that do.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell account holders by email.
